Central Australia

Central Australia 2019

Recently, six Maclean High school ATSI students went on a 19 day tour of Central Australia. The tour was run from the 16th of September to the 4th of October, going through western NSW, South Australia, the Centre, Alice Springs, then through western Queensland.

Highlights for the students included Dubbo Zoo, the Big Picture at Broken Hill, Lake Hart, Coober Pedy, Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon, Simpson’s Gap, Devils Marbles and Darriveen Station Australian Age of Dinosaurs Winton and Carnravon Gorge.

It was a fantastic trip and they were all excellent ambassadors for both Yaegl Country and the school. The students were required to set up their own tents each night, help with the preparation of meals and do some occasional school work as well as give a speech about a certain topic that was drawn out of a hat.
