Yaegl Elders lead the way for Maclean High School’s Reconciliation Action Plan

In October the Yaegl Elders group met at Botero, in Maclean, to go through Maclean High School’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The RAP is a working document promoting reconciliation and reconciliation initiatives, which Maclean High School has been a part of since 2019. Each year major stakeholders of the plan meet to discuss the ideas and projects associated with reconciliation for the following year.

In the recent meeting, key dates were claimed for 2023, such as the Cultural Tour in Term 1 2023, and the River of Learning Celebration Day, which is held during Reconciliation Week. The Yaegl Elders are always heavily involved in these reconciliation projects and have been avid supporters of reconciliation at the school for well over a decade. The school would like to thank  Yaegl Elders Kerri McLeay, Deborah Breckenridge, Sam Kapeen, Anjanette Warburton and Krystal Randall for taking part in this meeting, which is such an important part of the RAP process. A published version of the school’s RAP can be found on its website.
